I love teaching students privately one on one. My youngest student was 4; a Piano student. She was from a Russian family and didn’t speak a word of English. Teaching her was a joint effort between myself and the girl’s mother who did speak English; a very interesting experience. My oldest student was 86; a Guitar student. He had studied previously with another instructor and loved to play. I focused on material that would not only improve his abilities but provide him with something that he could play for people in his social groups. Read More

I create my own custom lesson plans upon each students needs/wants. After an assessment of skills I create a plan to help the student harness in on the things that need work and polish the skill sets that are already there. Usually, I pick a good series of lesson books that we will work through together. If it is an entirely new student I work at things one at a time to make sure we're getting in all the basics and fundamentals needed for the more advanced skills. Read More

I highly encourage daily practice on each student and during each lesson, we follow a set path of warm up, scale studies, sigh reading and learning new solos from time to time. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
I would begin with whatever book your child's school has provided. This would provide consistency and avoid confusion. Aside from this there are fundamentals such as scales and rhythm exercises that are universally efficacious and essential. I would also work specifically on whatever piece the student is currently working on. I would find it best to find out at what level the student is at before tailoring a more specific program. Every student is different, so my teaching approach is rarely identical from student to student. Technical training progresses as a student develops motivation through his or her practice habits. I try to encourage practice through journal entry and self-accountability. I also try to make a student's home practice a little more exciting by setting goals and explaining what will be accomplished through achieving these short-term goals. Introducing new concepts while perfecting basic technique is how I try to captivate a student's attention and excitement for music. Read More
Instruments: Violin Cello Viola
I am a Brazilian musician born into a musical family who began studying piano at the age of six with my aunt, and the violin in my church. I had a great experience as a violinist and as a violin teacher. Even though I started playing the cello, I always have spent time as a violin teacher and doing courses about violin and viola pedagogy as well. I started studying the cello with great teachers in Brazil, among them: Fabio Presgrave (Juilliard School) Andre Micheletti (Indiana University) and Dennis Parker (Louisiana State University), and have played in several masterclasses with great cellists as Marek Jerie (Guarneri Trio Prague).
