I have taught at the collegiate level at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. I have also taught award-winning drumlines at Calvert Hall College, Lansdowne High School and Dulaney High School, all in the Baltimore metropolitan area. I'm currently a second year student at the University of Delaware where I study physics, music composition, and piano performance. Although I'm a classically trained musician I am constantly looking expand my musical vernacular, and some of my favorite genres include swing, flamenco, classic rock, bluegrass, and Irish folk music among others. It shows me that they not only understand the material, but that they care about what it is they are learning by striving to improve. I also believe it's important for them to feel that what they are participating in is a worthwhile activity that is not only fun but rewarding to explore. Music is my passion and I love sharing it with others. I've been an instructor for drums and percussion for over twenty years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, I moved to L.A. where I continued my studies alongside ultra professional drummers Dave Weckl Chad Wackerman. While living in California I was able to gain invaluable experience performing on stage and recording in major studios. After moving back to the east coast I remain active in the music scene local to Baltimore, Maryland as well as playing nationally with groups ranging from Nashville, California and New York. While achievement is important to me, I believe that developing long-term skills is a far more significant. I prefer to emphasize skill-building and retention, and always want to make sure the student is enjoying the process. I prefer to set realistic short- and long-term goals for students at each lesson, and acknowledge their accomplishments with a system of rewards. Additionally, at the end of each year, I encourage my students' participation in a studio-wide voluntary recital, which is intended to showcase their growth and development over the course of the year as well as afford them an opportunity to perform in public.
