I have gone through a four year degree program in which I've had the opportunity to gain peer teaching experience as well as teaching within various school districts for individual, small, and large ensemble settings. I have also been teaching dance at my mom's studio for the past 6 years. When I started college, I continued to teach flute lessons and I then began teach saxophone lessons as well. For beginning guitar students, I start with Alfred's Basic Guitar Method. Once a foundation is established, I gauge where the student wants to go stylistically and tailor lesson plans from there. There are a plethora of guitar methods available, but I find it most valuable to learn parts from recordings of the guitarists whom they most want to emulate.
