Then I go into 30 min of song learning and the last hour is music theory and teaching a little bit of composition I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I prefer Piano Adventurers for the series I use to teach piano at all levels. Their series is clear and has the proper scope and sequence to teach all ages. I supplement that technique book with a book for finger independence. Hanon virtuoso exercises and scale. As far as my singing method books, I use an Italian technique for singing. I am primarily a trumpet player, although I am versed in other instruments as well. I attended Manhattan School Music and studied with some of the best trumpet professors and players in the country. While living in New York, I played in all sorts of groups from Orchestras to Jazz bands to Salsa.
