Hi, I'm Sarah! With more than 10 years classical music training and education, I strongly believe my passion in music and solid singing technique can help my students improve their musicality and skills. In 2021, I graduated from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati with a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance. As a mezzo-soprano, I had multiple performing experience in opera and chorus, singing roles like Hnsel in Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel, Meg in Verdi's Falstaff, Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and so on. I implement materials of my own design mixed with songs of the students choosong and tastes, and typically have them up and playing a song or two that they like in a couple of lessons. All ages, styles, and expereince levels are welcome. For reading, I like to use a combination of notation, tabs and chord diagrams. And while I dont absolutely insist that the student learn to read notation, I do strongly encourage it. Read More

Regardless of the level of musician, basic fundamentals are extremely important to a brass musician. In fundamental studies, we will learn lip slurs, tonguing exercises, efficient breathing, excellent buzzing technique, etc. We will achieve maximum proficiency in basic fundamentals by using method books (according to skill level) , such as Remington, Schlossberg, Arban's, ect., and personally curated exercises designed for the individual. In addition to fundamental practice, we will practice applying the skills learned in the fundamental practice with etudes, melodic etudes, and solos. Read More

I like to create a combination of my own supplementary material, along with what the students are preparing for classes or outside engagements. I believe in a very strong fundamental background and have created a set of exercises geared to maximize effectiveness, and guarantee progress. Excellence in preparation leads to excellence in performance, and a focus on fundamentals builds the skillset and the confidence to achieve. In addition to the exercises, I have a standard solo repertoire curriculum students will play through, based on their comfort level with the instrument. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my teenager days, as I began to play in my high school marching band to began to understand rudiments and reading. So coming from church everything I played I could break it down into rudiments. I started teaching private lessons to the kids at my church and other churches, and its been about 9 years or so. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the main key points I like to emphasize to younger students or even anyone really serious about learning. Read More

I move at a very quick pace, but I have my students set their own goals. While I will select the literature for the student, I want them to feel successful when they are working with me. I want students to be confident and successful, so I will do anything in my power to help them learn good technique and practice habits. Teaching students has been a rewarding experience for me, and I believe that I can make a difference in their lives.< When students are practicing, I want them to practice scales for instruments, and vocal warmups for voice before starting on the assigned work for the next lesson.
