I believe in a very strong fundamental background and have created a set of exercises geared to maximize effectiveness, and guarantee progress. In my lessons, I work hard to create a routine that best fits the students needs. This typically means that many of my students are not following a specific lesson plan or standard routine. Starting out, I stress fundamentals and warm-ups to help the students create a solid grasp of the instrument, before making the move towards solo repertoire. My experience teaching goes back to high school in which I tutored students in multiple subjects including Spanish and English. I also would help my section to improve as a section leader. During my college years, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant which allowed me to help students primarily in music. Part of my duties included teaching smaller classes and tutoring students in music theory and ear training. When it comes to teaching voice, there is no one way of doing so. Each child learns differently and each child has a different instrument, and it is most important that that be figured out first. I will generally start out with well known songs sung by ear, and then depending on the students level help them to learn to read music.
