I began taking piano lessons at the age of 8, and decided to further my studies by attending the music program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 2018, I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Music, studying piano and music composition. I have taught music in many different places in since 2016. I taught kindergarden and elementary school in Sacred Heart Academy from 2002 - 2004 in a classroom setting. I use a broad amount of materials that I tailor to each individual student. Trumpet students use a variety of materials from the Arban Book, H. L. Clarks "Technical Studies," Max Schlossberg's "Daily Drills and Technical Studies" and a variety of solo and duet books. I feel that it is very important to be supportive and encouraging to each student and to verbally acknowledge their accomplishments. I feel the most important thing when teaching is making sure the student is relaxed and having fun while playing. While I stress setting goals, I also feel it's important the student is learning at a pace that's comfortable. Positivity is very important as I feel a positive atmosphere can help fuel a student's drive for success. But most importantly, I feel that humor is very important when teaching.
