From there, I would gather information from the student regarding his or her difficulty level with the instrument and then from there, I would put together the appropriate materials for the lesson so that we have a plan to work from and an end goal in mind. As a clarinet instructor, I always strive for bringing a wide variety of different artistic, technical and clarinet related aspects into my teachings. I find it crucial to be able to identify a certain students strengths or weaknesses. When us, teachers, do that, we are not only helping an individual student, we also expand our capacity as artists; we learn new ways to fix certain problems in ones playing. I have been awarded diplomas in piano performance and accompaniment from Trinity College London and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and did my Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano Performance and Musicology) at the College of Charleston, SC, where I graduated summa cum laude.
