I started singing recreationally of my own volition at age 5, coming up with improvised musicals in my parents' living room and filming them with my mom's camcorder. I took advanced choir classes in middle school and high school and was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for several rock bands throughout high school. I started learning guitar in 2006 and started learning piano in 2013. I am primarily a beginner-advanced voice teacher with secondary focus on beginner-intermediate piano and guitar. Read More

Instruments: Piano

I started playing piano since I was about 4 years old and I've been teaching since the summer of 2017. I passed the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory exam in 2012 and the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Performance exam in 2016. I also won several music scholarships during high school. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Proficiency in reading music is a top goal for my new students and we start to read music within the first few lessons. I balance working out of a book with listening exercises, playing along to songs and the occasional game or two. A typical 60 minute lesson run down: 5 minutes - check in from previous lesson and a warm up 15 minutes - beat/groove workshop - digging into a style and working on various drum beats in that style 10 minutes - technical piece that relates to the beats/grooves weve been working on and some exercises to improve technique 5 minutes - game or improvisation break, something to give our brains a rest 20 minutes - working on a song. I knew I wanted to be a teacher even before I knew I wanted to be a musician. I have been teaching for the last 7 years (as long as I've been studying), and I absolutely love the challenge of communicating with students who learn in different ways than I do. Along with teaching in-home lessons, I have provided beginner piano/advanced voice lessons at three private music schools - the most recent of these being the Community Arts Program in Miami, Fl. Teaching guitar is one of the great joys of my life.  I really enjoy meeting people of all different ages and backgrounds, and helping them to discover how music fits into their lives.  I have no preference on a students goals, and I am completely fine teaching beginners, casual players, or students who would like a more serious approach.  I prepare lesson plans for each of my students and I try hard to keep the curriculum fun and relative to the students interest. Instruments: Flute Piccolo

I use a variety of method books, technique exercises, and etudes to teach students of all ages and abilities. Rather than choosing one method, I personalize each curriculum and lesson plan to suit your ability, interest, and goals. In choosing repertoire, I make a point to include newly composed works as well as pieces from the standard repertoire across every musical era so you get a wide range of musical experiences. In addition to the recording and performing experience listed above, I've been a full-time private lessons instructor since 2010. I've taught at countless local schools, but found that the freedom of teaching completely independently (or, at most, through a referral program like Musika) can't be beat. The more of my *own* students I have, the more I can focus on each one, and the more time I have to plan out their progress. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
