Every student has different interests and a different learning style. I customize every lesson and lesson plan to meet the needs of my students. The first lesson is focused on my assessment of a students skills, interests, and learning styles. From there I will determine the most useful resources for each student. I will work with the method book that is being used in a student's school, in addition to method books designed for individual skill development such as the Rubank Method Books or Suzuki Method for string instruments. With the younger beginners (elementary school), I’m very, very energetic! I do my best to break it balanced; however, I strive to make the environment as fun and warm and welcoming as they would like. I pride myself on leaving every child eager to learn more! With the older beginners (middle school and high school), I keep in mind their personalities and methods of learning and processing the material, so the lesson is still warm, but more balanced in nature. For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. We will then work on repetroire focusing on what the student would sing at a recital performance. Read More
