Instruments: Saxophone
I have been playing saxophone for 16 years, and got both of my bachlor and master degree in classical saxophone performance. I have had a lot of performing experience during these years. Now i am working on my first doctoral degree in University of North Texas, being a student of Dr. Eric Nestler. Read More
Instruments: Trombone
I begin the first lesson with each student by listening to their goals. All of my students are individuals with different experiences and therefore, I tailor our lesson material to each students needs. In my lessons, I set my students up for success in their practice sessions. I expect that all of my students will practice outside of their lessons, and I work on making sure students will not have questions on how to practice their material. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Recorder Music Keyboard
Practice is important to learn the piano. I use the Faber series books, because they use a more classical style approach. I will teach whatever style you would like to pursue. It can include music theory, using chords and scales. The Faber series however does not introduce scales, or key signatures right off. They take it for granted, so I have to side teach using my own curriculum to make up for what is missing. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning piano students I typically start with Faber's piano adventure series--I typically have students work through the lesson, performance, and theory books while providing them with additional repertoire on the side (pop, disney, classical pieces etc.) For voice students, I typically spend about a third of the lesson working on technique--proper breathing, posture, extending range, working on tone quality etc. Then the rest of the lesson is spent working on solo song repertoire. Instruments: Flute Piccolo
I typically begin my young students in the Suzuki Method for Flute, inwhich I have received the training for this method. For older students, I begin them in the Trvor Wye Method for Beginning Flute Students. I supplement both these methods with solos appropriate for their level and goals, such as UIL and other competitions. I always allow time for something fun and modern as part of the weekly practicing. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Euphonium French Horn
How did I start teaching? I began working with local high school kids while doing my undergraduate degree in music performance. What types of students have I worked with? All kinds and levels. From complete beginners to college music majors. What is my typical process for working with a new student? Evaluate where they are at in their musical development and then determine the best course of study. What do I enjoy about this work? Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs in the style they want to learn. p> Read More
