Coming from the struggling yet revolutionary country of Lebanon, I have found healing in expression and performance. Modern middle and high schoolers can be very busy and it is not productive to give them too much than they can handle. I have been teaching for the past 10 years in Singapore and the US. In Charleston, SC, I was faculty at the Charleston Academy of Music for almost 6 years.My students range from age 3 to adults, and have won local and state competitions. In 2010 I formed a piano duo, and have since been invited as guest faculty in the Chicago Duo Piano Festival and Charleston Music Teachers' Association. I have performed in Asia, Europe and in the United States and have met many internationally acclaimed pianists and pedagogues, and I bring with me the experiences I have amassed over the years. After graduation, he attended the Armed Forces School of Music and served four years as a member of the prestigious 434th US Army Band. After his discharge in 1995, Matt moved to Akron, OH and began the real business of paying his dues in original bands, clubs, wedding bands, theaters, demo sessions, and countless one nighters. This was also the period when he began his career as a teacher, both privately and as an adjunct faculty member for the Tuscarawas Valley School District, where his students and ensembles were awarded the highest honors at the district and state level. Since obtaining my degree, I have taught music in many different capacities. I have worked with groups as well as individuals on all aspects of musicianship. This is achieved by setting realistic goals each week. I love to encourage students' success by acknowledging their accomplishments, no matter how small. This helps fuel their desire to get better. My teaching experience dates back to France (2008) when I started teaching music theory to children between the ages of 8-14. I had a class of about 10 or 15 kids and we worked on solfege, theory, and singing. During that time I was also teaching drums in the same school and privately in my house in Normandy, France. I emphasized two keys points of success to my students: always come to your lessons and always put in the time to do your practicing. Read More
