I tend to explore everything we do by observing how the given material utilizes one of these three elements (with rhythm being chief!). I love to see students come out of their shell!  It gives me so much pleasure to watch the progression of a student who starts out shy and scared to sing in public, to commanding a stage and audience after a series of lessons.  I like to move at the students pace, while encouraging and challenging the student to push themselves with healthy vocal practices and exercises, while in, and away from the studio.  My goal for my students is to help them find their own, unique voice and style! I come from a family of musicians- I was encouraged to play piano as soon as I could sit up. I had formal private piano lessons for 12 years, played in the school orchestra and picked up guitar and drums in local bands. I continued to study music at Mizzou while I performed in restaurants, bars, wineries, and private parties. I use Piano Adventures as the basic course guide. I have found it the most productive and enjoyable for my students. I use a minimum of the Lesson and Theory book for my younger students with either the basic course or Accelerated course depending on their age and maturity. My teachers have included Eli Eban, Diana Haskell, James Hinson, and Mary Sage. Currently, I'm pursuing my Master of Music in Clarinet Performance at California State University - Fullerton with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Burt Hara.
