In all of my teaching, I combine my students' interests with the leading pedagogy practices in string education to develop the foundational skills of the instrument as well as a fondness for it. There are several method books that I use such as Suzuki, Schroeder's Cello Etudes, and Fiddler's Philharmonic, however, I tailor each lesson path to each student based on student interest as well as proper sequencing. For classical studies, there are some standard saxophone repertoire books I like to go to. For brand new students, I use Essential Elements books, for intermediate students I use Rubank method books, and for advanced students I use the Ferling etude book. For jazz studies, I begin students with Lenny Neihaus' Jazz Conception for Saxophone, which lays a great foundation for jazz and swing playing. After this, I do a lot of ear training and memorization exercises for tunes, and talk about chord-scale theory. Read More

From 2017 until 2021, I was the Brass Specialist at the British International School of Kuala Lumpur, where I taught group brass lessons, private lessons, directed ensembles, and accompanied students on international music festival tours. The last two years of my teaching there were plagued by pandemic, so I gained a multitude of experience with online teaching as we were in and out of school at various points. Prior to my position at BSKL, I was the Trombone Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, and I taught after school low brass lessons at the University School in Shaker Heights during my undergraduate.
