I'm very laid-back but focused. I expect students to work at this and put forth the effort. I also understand that life happens and a student may have missed some practice time. I'm okay with that. My teacher did that for me so I'll do the same for my students. I don't believe in over-criticizing a student. By 15 I was performing at local venues throughout the state of Ohio. At 15 I also started playing the guitar; over the years I have added the bass, drums and percussion to my resume. Although I am not a certified Suzuki teacher, I do utilize the Suzuki books for beginning students. I find that they provide a good breadth of repertoire suitable for students who are new to their instruments. For more advanced students, I use standard repertoire for their instrument, making sure each piece teaches them to hone a skill while also preparing them for big auditions. Since I was inspired to play piano by ear after hearing a Mozart piano sonata when I was five, my love of music brought me to many places performing professionaly, whether it's a Dvorak trio, a big band standard, or a Daft Punk cover.  I began my formal training at the Cleveland Institute of Music for eleven years, while also studying violin, percussion, trumpet, and composing along the way.  Beginning by performing as a freelance accompanist, church organist, and teaching piano at Baldwin - Wallace College, I've gone on to play at the University of Connecticut Chamber Music Festival in 2009, and earned my Master's in piano performance in 2010. I started teaching when I was in high school. I was inspired by both my parents who are teachers and I learned a lot from them. I started growing my studio when I was in school, about 7 years ago, I was teaching at soundboard music in Stow, Ohio. My private studio kept growing so i decided to leave the music store and it has been growing since then. I grew up in the Cleveland area and learned to play trumpet in my school music program starting in the fifth grade, which is typical of my students. I went on to earn a bachelor of music degree from Baldwin Wallace University in 1978. I've also earned a teaching certificate for music K-12, through Cleveland State University in 1993. I have performed frequently in northeast Ohio and have toured the United States, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. Read More
