Instruments: Trumpet

I am passionate about music, and hope that my students will develop a passion for it as well. I believe in setting short term and long term goals, and developing a plan to attain both. I teach all my students multiple styles, because it is important for trumpet players to know how to play every style. I am quick to acknowledge when a student has gotten better. Positive feedback is very important in keeping students motivated. Read More

For beginners or people that are brand new to the guitar we typically break the lesson into halves. The first half is typically practicing pentatonic scales and basic finger exercises and maybe some rhythm drills before moving onto simplified versions of famous classic songs. The expectation is to play the scale at a certain tempo with a metronome, and be able to play along with the recording of whatever song we happen to be focusing on. Read More

Instruments: Voice

I am very passionate about tailoring each lesson and even the way I approach each student to that student's skill level as well as personality. I am invested in my students' lives and endeavor to make sure that my studio is a place where they feel understood, appreciated, and safe. I allow students to have an active role in selecting their own repertoire so that they find pieces they really adore. Read More

As a teacher, I try not to stress rote learning but instead focus on explanations for why music works the way it does. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. To that end, I stress technical study that works towards grooming pieces or songs for performance and make sure that my students have a complete understanding of both music and their instrument. Instruments: Piano Cello Music Keyboard

Depending on my student's age and skill level I usually have them begin with Suzuki books, Essential Elements books, or a combination of the two. As students advance I often incorporate etudes and/or exercises by Lee, Dotzauer, Galamian, Mooney, Sevcik, Duport, and Popper. While ear training is an essential skill that I teach to all of my students, the younger a student is the more I'll have them "play by ear" instead of reading sheet music. Read More

Instruments: Bass Guitar Double Bass

My teaching style aims to facilitate the students self-discovery of their own musical voice. The lesson plans and repertoire provide the tools to learn the concepts, time in lessons is aimed to develop technique and showing the student how to practice the concept in progress. My level of oversight as far as repertoire and the concepts the student is learning, is dependent on the level of the student as well as their learning style. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
