For beginning students between ages 3 and 6 I use Progressive Piano Method for the young beginner. Older beginners are given options based on their age, ability and goals. I have testing materials available for those who are interested. When I taught international students at Brook Mays, I learned many different techniques for young beginners. Most of my students start at around 3 or 4 and stay with me all the way through advanced Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, etc. Read More

I use methods from the Berkeley School of Music and years of studying with private teachers. Learn how to read guitar tablature. learning to play single notes, beginner guitar chords, 4 essential strumming patterns, changing chords etc. After the basics are mastered we will move through playing lead guitar to improvising with C-A-G-E-D theory and playing advanced lead guitar licks. I start my beginning students off with learning to read music notation simply from a rudiment sheet and moving into a cd play a long book with basic drum rhythms and song structure. For intermediate to advance students, I typically start with Stick Control for the snare drummer by George Stone. For basic drum set we start with "The Rhythm Book" covering all drum set styles. If the student is interested in a specific genre and style of playing, we tend to travel down that road of goals they have set for themselves. Read More

I am a music-loving teacher and eager to share and enjoy with my students the marvelous experience of making music as a way of personal growth and development. Since I was 13 I started singing and playing guitar. At 16 I started doing it professionally and managed to take my art to a large part of my country (Venezuela) and several Latin American countries. I have great experience in the area of popular music, live singing, recording in a studio and breathing techniques and antistress that I can share with my students to facilitate the easiest and fun way to make music. I firmly believe in establishing long term goals for which the class is being taught and developed. For beginner students who are children, I tend to lean into the music that they are more fond of listening to and develop an atmosphere of interest while using various colors, singing methods, rhymes that will grasp their attention and in the long run develop their ear. For young adults and up, I develop my lesson plans accordingly depending on their level of musicianship. Read More

From the first day in college i have been giving private lessons to other musicians in my department. I was noticed right away for my musical ability and people always wanted to study with me.Me being a section leader for the marching band gave me a chance to exercise my teaching skills dealing with more than 20 trumpet players at a time. I love teaching students that have the ambition and determination to make their dreams come true. Read More

I have been teaching for 25+ years in schools and privately. The crucial part of my teaching method is an individual approach. We all are different and that makes teaching more fun but it also makes it challenging and at times very difficult. It takes a lot of patience and experience to unlock one's individuality in learning and performing. I do use books at the same time I try to develop student's ears. Read More
