I adjust my teaching based on each student's abilities to maintain a relaxed, fun, and engaging atmosphere. For younger students, I typically start with Music for Little Mozarts, which includes a variety of activities in addition to the exploration of music. For older or more intermediate students, I recommend Faber Faber's Piano Adventures, which incorporates not only interesting musical selections, but also introduces music theory and analysis. For advanced students, I prefer to piece together selected repertoires based on music relevant to their interests; this typically includes a selection of classical and contemporary compositions with some discussion of the pieces' context within a greater scope of music history and theory. I use piano adventures for most students starting off. With my more advanced students I use "The Russian School of Piano." Once the student is at an appropriate level, I then take them out of the books completely. At this time, we work on more difficult pieces in different time periods. Most students start playing Bach's music at first. This is to help the technique. Mozart also is introduced during this time, while this music is difficult, the interpretation is simplistic compared to Rachmaninoff. Read More

The most important part is to have fun and love what you are doing. I want my students to develop a passion for music and really be motivated to learn. I want lessons and practice time to be something to look forward to and enjoy. I cater my teaching style to each individual student and make sure that they are having a positive and enriching experience. I have a positive and patient attitude and I always teach each student at their own pace. Read More

For Piano I teach from the Faber Faber series. I used Primer and level 1 one for children and a level 1 version for late teens and adults. For Guitar/Bass I use Hal Leonard Guitar Method Series. For all my students I determine what they are interested in learning and we focus on that music while still practicing the fundamentals. Read More

In addition to the Danish pedagogical methods and the training I received from my own teachers, I base my methods on what I learned from the renowned and innovative educator, Jeffrey Chappell (see http://musiceverybody.com/). I also hold to the philosophy that music is, in itself, another language. Because of that, no matter what the students age or skill level might be, I always combine the technical and theoretical elements of music with the expressive and creative elements. Read More
