My teaching draws primarily from the methods of international soloist François Rabbath: students will work from his Nouvelle Technique de la Contrebasse, alongside repertoire from the solo and orchestral literature. Through this work, students will develop a free and beautiful bowed sound, an efficiently organized left-hand technique, and most importantly a calm and healthy posture. I have always believed that music is a conversation between the musician and the audience, and the instrument is the interpreter. With this in mind, with any age, I start with a regular conversation. Knowing the passion, interest level, and motivation of the students helps me create a method of teaching that is specific to the individual. I also learn their experience and knowledge level.
