I first started teaching and helping run brass sectionals at some local schools in 2004, but did not start teaching regualarly until I completed my degree in 2011. I find that young musicians make the most progress when playing for and with other people. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging and put a strong emphasis on playing duets. I also encourage students to enter competitions and play recitals. I have found competitions and recitals motivate students both before and after the event. Read More

I use goal-setting as a satisfying and organized way to break down musical lessons, which means lessons time is well spent and students have a good understanding of how and what to practice. In college, I gave voice lessons to fellow students regularly and lead many rehearsals and after school music camps for elementary and middle school aged students. While student teaching, I had the opportunity to lead 5 different choirs, lead 8 different levels of music education and give after school tutoring to students.
