As drum instructor, I taught beats, fills, song structure, technique, and kit-setup, to a group between the ages of 7 and 14 in the summer of 2016 with the "Girls Rock Camp Houston", a non-profit organization. I volunteered to an additional guidance position as a "Band Coach" in 2016 to a group of young teen students. Aside from finding a student's learning style, my teaching method centers around creating goals that break down barriers. Most barriers are something other than a student's ability to learn. Music is a hard-learned skill, and it's all too often that many students face the hard reality of not becoming the next legend as soon as they pick up their first instrument. I have been playing violin for most of my life, and have obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees in Violin Performance from Rice University and New York University, respectively. I have had the opportunity to play with professional orchestra conductors during my summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School, and have performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, and Tanglewood. It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps. I unfortunately was not able to perform with them, however it was a great honor just being able to be accepted and to practice with them for 4 months in New Jersey. Read More

I have been instructing students in voice for a year now. I have worked with kids as young as 6 years old to high school level. I encourage consistent and regular practice, but also breaks and time to ask questions if one is stuck and not sure what to do. I mainly use classical style techniques and songs to build strong vocal instruments, but I also reference and use genres that individual students prefer to sing to keep their interest and build their love for singing.
