I'm an Argentinian/American musician who decided to pursue music as a career when I was 8 years old. I had just seen Al Green perform at the Apollo and was awed by the incredible impact and joy music can have on people. With the support of my parents, who are musicians as well, I began studying with private teachers immediately. By the time I was 11, I was performing consistently in venues in Buenos Aires. Read More

When I was 15 years old I began teaching to a few kids I knew from high school on guitar. I also began teaching my friend Max Kroll's little brother who was only in 3rd grade at the time. I continued teaching on and off for money and just for friends who wanted to learn throughout the last ten years. I believe like anything else teaching music lessons is about networking and keeping a positive reputation so students will refer me other students. Read More

In my years of teaching experience in music, English as a second language, and biology, I have found that different students learn differently. Some do best learning by demonstration, others by reading sheet music, others through discussion and application. In general, I have found that when students are given individual focus and a lesson plan built upon their strengths, they excel! I make sure that, whether in individual or clinic style settings, I give attention to each student, work with them, and help them achieve their goals! Read More

The guitar has a poor reputation as a serious instrument, when it fact it is quite difficult, even physically un-natural to play. Bad habits can not only set you back, but take a great deal of time and effort to un-do, and can even cause physical pain or damage. I can't understate the importance of selecting a guitar teacher who has extensive experience with physical technique, and how it can free the guitarist from sluggish learning, frustration and most musical limits in their playing. I typically create my own lesson plans and try to cater them to the student. Most recently I've been working with trying to find a balance of teaching music theory and practical piano. When teaching theory, I often refer to Kotska's and Payne's "Tonal Harmony" for the order of the curriculum, and when it comes to exercises I will either write them out on the spot to demonstrate something to the student (I also feel it is important to SHOW the student how to MAKE music, ie. proper note notation, and symbol shape), or prepare them in advance if the content is more complex. I am a strong advocate in fusing together practice and performance. I personally have had teachers that focused too much on technical studies and theory, and not enough time on incorporating those skills into performance; which is the main reason why many people have a desire to learn a musical instrument. In my lessons, I focus on developing skills that are essential to my student's overall musical development. These skills include music theory, ear training, rhythmic analysis, technique, and finally, applying all those skills into a performing setting. Read More

Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! Read More
