My passion for music began at an early age when I found myself drawn to the guitar. I knew from the moment that I picked up my first guitar that I had discovered what I truly loved. This passion grew stronger as the years went on which led me to become interested in providing instruction to those who share this same love. Music has helped me get through life's toughest moments and has provided me with lasting memories that won't soon be forgotten. Read More

One of my main goals as a teacher is to get to know my student, how they best learn, and what it is they love about music. My own love for music and particular bands/genres is what gave me the drive to keep practicing, and I bring this same approach to each of my lessons. Nothing makes me more happy than to see one of my students getting excited about something they are playing--and because of this, I structure my lessons to maximize the aspects of music each student enjoys, while making sure to incorporate fundamental aspects of technique and music theory regardless of the particular music we are studying. Going from singing for fun, to performing professionally, to music therapy has only intensified my passion for helping others. Teaching others is such a unique experience, especially when when it involves music. I believe teaching is at its best when the teacher her/himself discovers something new as well. I always include a strong understanding of vocal padagogy; vocal health; piano pedagogy; Classical, pop, musical theatre; stage performance; basic music theory and solfedge. Read More

I have been teaching people music since I was in college. I have experience teaching little kids as well as older adults. I like to give my students a combination of music fundamentals that I think will help them, as well as putting some focus on music that interests them. The key is to make sure the student is enjoying themselves. I have also put lesson videos on YouTube that include various advanced topics about things that I am passionate about, and I have received pleasant feedback on the content. Read More

I began teaching in my college days, when I would help friends learn different instruments. My experience includes working at School of Rock Red Bank, where I taught guitar, drums and bass. I encourage my students to develop their own musical tastes and to learn music as a language. As a songwriter, I think that it is always a good idea for students of any level to pursue their own compositional goals. Read More

For beginner students, I often begin with the foundations of the instrument. For drums, we would be practice the rhythmic subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes) and slowly work them into grooves that they can easily start to pick out of their favorite songs. When the fundamentals have been established, we can learn more advanced grooves, dissect songs together, and learn how to improvise and write our own drum parts. My biggest focus as a teacher is to help the student discover the music that they want to learn and make so that they can develop their own unique voice. Read More

Seeing a student progress instrumentally and theoretically is extremely rewarding and what I hope to accomplish through teaching. Setting goals throughout the lesson process is fundamental to a student progressing at their own pace and recognizing those goals will fuel their motivation to continue and prosper at their instrument. This is why students who know what they want to get out of their instrument in advance will have an advantage. Read More
