I'm a full-time musician, writer and producer in Nashville; however I love teaching music so I fit in lessons whenever I can! In 2013 I graduated at the top of my class from Berklee College of Music with Bachelor of Music degree, double majoring in Music Production Engineering and Contemporary Writing Production and minoring in Writing for TV New Media. I moved to Nashville in early 2014 and I've been performing, writing and producing full time ever since. Read More

My teaching style is very relaxed and laid back. I like to let the students be themselves and tell me exactly what they personally are trying to achieve with their music. If they want to secretly be a metalhead shredding like Steve Vai, I want them to tell me and I will be happy to help them get there! If they want to be the next Taylor Swift, that's okay too! For beginners, I start off with the basics. For example, naming each string on the guitar, curvature of the fingers, embouchure on the headjoint of a flute, and achieving a crow on an oboe reed. For school age children, I use books or sheet music used in their own practice at school or Youth Orchestras during lessons. For any ability level, I use any materials during lessons that my students want to work on that achieves their goals but also keeps them motivated. Read More

Nothing is more important to me than my students' personal goals and having a discussion on how we can achieve those goals. I always want to make sure my students are moving forward in their creative process, so I like to check in with them at each lesson to discuss their progress. It's definitely important to me that my students practice on their own (especially if we're having lessons once/week.) I like to have my students record themselves (using the voice memo feature on their phone or, if possible, another recording device) so they can listen back to their lessons and practice between lessons. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I find it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My career as a teacher began 14 years ago, at the age of 14, giving guitar lessons to my friends and classmates around town. Since then I have continued to teach guitar, music theory, and ear-training to beginning and intermediate musicians of all ages and backgrounds. Emphasizing the direct correlation between consistent practice and gradual, sustained improvement is an integral part of my personal teaching method; one of the most rewarding moments of teaching and learning music, for both student and teacher, is when a student sees and internalizes the progress they've made as a result of the work they've put in.
