I started teaching fifteen years ago when I was getting my Music Education degree in Buffalo. Even though I was training to become a choir director (which I still love doing!) I found teaching one-on-one lessons and building connections was my true calling as a music educator. Since then, I have taught lessons privately in students' homes and online. In addition to my private studio, I have been a collegiate music educator training professional musicians. Read More

I am a Rochester Musician and Educator who loves sharing the joy of music with students of all ages. Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More

As a performing musician, we are always giving and receiving knowledge to our colleagues and pals. I've been teaching people things about music since the end of high school, when I began to really feel like I had a grasp on what "good playing" sounds like. It wasn't until college when I sat down with someone and gave them a free one-on-one lesson for the first time. At that moment, even though my primary passion is performing music, I felt ecstatic that I was actually able to teach someone something that they'll remember throughout their days as a musician. I have experience teaching private students from beginner to advanced levels and with students of all ages. Teaching voice requires the knowledge to help shape and expand technique in a healthy and appropriate manner, which I have developed during my years at Eastman. I also encourage my students to explore all different genres and work to apply the technique across all styles. I myself have performed in many musical productions and operas. Read More

First and foremost, I typically ask the student if they have any goals and what they are. Then I do my best to give the student the best lessons that support their goals. I do not want to only give material the student will not enjoy. Music is fun, even if practicing isn't always fun, and I will keep this in mind. My primary teaching goal is to remind you that music is a language. Read More
