I will then begin to work into fingering,picking,chords and other basic elements. Beginners are also instructed on the foundation of all music which is melody,harmony and rythym. For the more advanced student I find, most want to know more about technique, finding their own sound, theory and a more advanced knowledge of how to increase their abilities on guitar. I belive music is the universal language. It doesnt matter what type of music you play, the theory is all the same. When you learn a song, the theory should be learned as well. I like to give scales and a practical theory lesson each week, then transcribe a song for the student to learn that relates to the weeks lesson. Then at the end of each week's lesson, we will practice impovisation with the scales, theory and song learned from the week before. Read More
