By High School, I had already formed three bands, and composed & recorded a solo album on my own. In 2013, I started my music degree at the University of Colorado Denver, and graduated in 2018. I’ve learned many different instruments since I got involved in music, but guitar is my main instrument. However, what I find most gratifying about music is the combination of multiple instruments together, forming an arrangement. Playing is a big part of the creative process, in that it involves experimenting and finding new ideas, thoughts, and processes that work best for each individual and that will lead to the perfect practice and the excitement of performance. When a student is ready, I will encourage them to do some suggested performing opportunities. My teaching method varies depending on their age. From 4 years to 8 years i use an advance learning method, which consists of developing reading and playing based on color coding music notes. For people 9 and up the method i use is the traditional method from the Cuban and Spaniard school. This consists of developing the three characteristics of a musician. My lessons are structured with attention paid to the fundamentals of each instrument and the fundamentals of music. I have learned that when a student practices a mistake over and over it remains a mistake. I immediately slow the student down and concentrate on just a measure or even two notes to accomplish correct rhythm, fingerings, articulations and phrasing. I always start with new students by assessing their level. For most beginner students, I introduce open chords and basic single note playing, eventually leading to chord progressions and basic classic rock riffs. Beyond this, I always tailor my teaching to a student's tastes, as I know the best way to engage a student and keep them excited is to show them how to play their favorite music! My day job is in IT, but my passion is music! I picked up a bass guitar at 12 years old and an acoustic guitar at age 15. I became a drummer at age 16.
