I began my guitar studies at the age of 12. A contemporary of the Tarrega School, I have taught and performed regularly as both soloist and ensemblist throughout my career. In 2012, I earned my Bachelors Degree in music performance from the University of Nebraska Omaha while studying with classical guitarist Hadley Heavin. I also have plenty of experience teaching group lessons of up to 25 children in both lesson and rehearsal formats. I prefer to teach my students using a jazz sensibilty applied all types of music. I've been teaching Guitar since I was an undergrad. I began teaching in public schools in 1985 and have taught Guitar, Band, and Orchestra at the Elementary, Middle and High School level. My main instrument is guitar (classical guitar, folk, rock, blues, jazz, country, pop. etc.); I also play and teach electric bass (rock, jazz, country, etc.) and ukulele (all styles). I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum.
