My teaching experience dates back about 20 years. Since then, I’ve taught many levels and many instruments. I’ve taught students ranging from 18 months to 81 years old. I’ve taught many styles;including jazz, pop, and rock. I’ve had students to make videos and win several competitions. My favorite genre to teach is classical. During my college years, I was a scholarship singer at First Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Sam Houston State University Chorale. Past experiences include singing with the UTB/TSC Master chorale, with which he performed at the Texas Music Educators Association. I have experience teaching guitar lessons and performing at the Alpha Omega Academy in Huntsville, Texas. After that I received a bachelors degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas and then a masters degree in trumpet performance from the University of Texas at Arlington. I keep a busy schedule as a freelance musician and perform regularly with the Dallas Jazz Orchestra. I also do the occasional the tour with different groups. My musical experiences started at church in the 80's when I discovered that I could sing really high notes imitating Christian artists like Sandy Patty and the late puertorican soprano Yolanda Vadiz. Those experiences motivated me to consider studying music seriously not just like another hobby. I started studying voice techniques at the age of 20 at the Sacred Music Institute in the Methodist Church in Hato Rey, PR. My teaching experience began at a young age. I started volunteering lessons for the youth in my church. I played keyboard on the worship team for several years and some youth students showed interest so I would teach them every now and then. In 2017, I started teaching private lessons at a studio in Fort Worth. For over 47 years I have played and instructed guitar. I began playing back in September of 1967 at the age of 10, on an inexpensive acoustic guitar purchased by my father from a pawn shop. I am self taught and learned to play by watching other guitarists, reading guitar instructional books, and listening to record albums.
