I focus on indvidualizing the lesson to the student. Every student has different goals, dreams, and personalities. I typically use the Faber Books for piano, Hal Leonard for guitar and ukulele, and I work in sight-reading with my voice students. I also work in music theory when appropriate, and enjoy explaining the "why" behind how music works. I'm also a singer-songwriter and have tunes on Spotify Apple Music. For me, the most amazing aspect of teaching music is to assist students in developing a musical identity of their own. Nothing could be a greater blessing than to experience students cultivating a personal and profound relationship with the magic of music firsthand, and to be there to help them to further their passion is a gift beyond what I am capable of expressing in words. By sharing the musical knowledge I have gathered throughout my life in lessons that are dynamic and adaptable yet consistent in terms of supporting students' growth, it is my intention to help to nourish students' own love for music, just as others have inspired me to do the same. My teaching experience spans 6 years. I've taught all ages, so I'm comfortable with everybodys learning pace. In college I studied under the Latin Grammy award winning La Catrina Quartet, and I hope to pass down the knowledge I gain from that experience to my students. With my students, I take them step by step through were they are as a musician, to were they need to be. My experience working in ensembles will also expand my students ability to play in groups of all sizes (which will often happen). Read More

I like to make sure that I am teaching both the ear to listen and the eye to read, so I make sure I can improve the development of both by providing effective sight=reading and aural exercises in every lesson.
