As a child of parents who have been/currently are teachers, I understand the utter importance of a good teacher. Personally, I believe the teacher/student relationship can be incredibly impactful and inspiring. I was always very inspired by my favorite teachers and I do not believe I would have progressed as a musician/human without the lessons I learned from my teachers over the years. Aside from whatever primary genre they (or their parents) care to learn, students under my tutelage should expect to learn bits and pieces of everything; jazz, bluegrass, classical, metal, and anything else that I feel can create a 'musician-of-all-genres,' so to speak. I began teaching bass in high school to elementary and middle school students. In college, as my knowledge of music theory expanded, I began teaching guitar and voice as well. Students need not be able to read music to study with me, although if we begin a professional relationship, know that I use much theory and classical techniques in all styles of playing on both guitar and bass. I'm currently teach jazz music the most, but I have found that covering more styles as a teacher reminds me of how connected the world of music really is and I'd love to get back into teaching rock, classical, funk and other styles of music. i was taught piano at the age of 5 years old by my father. i finished many piano method books my father instructed me on. at the age of 8 i learned to play the bass. i was in love with it more than the piano and became my main instrument. finished many bass method books as well. by the time i was 14 i was playing guitar, saxophone, drums and singing in choir. as i got older i began performing in concerts. i have performed in over 3,000 concerts since then and continue to. music is a way of life for me. It is vital that students have a physical reminder of our lessons and the techniques we covered, because in my experience, I've found this really helps with not only learning but retaining the information we go over.
