I've spent over half my life as a musician and I hope to help you have a lifelong love of music as well! Growing up in Upstate New York, I started on Cello when I was 9, but quickly made the change to Electric and Double Bass. I started my collegiate music education at Nazareth College of Rochester in 2014 as Classical Double Bass major. After a year there I transferred to SUNY Purchase to pursue a degree in Jazz Studies. My methods of teaching have been refined over the years and I've found it that methods of teaching have to be tailored to each student. For every lesson I develop a lesson plan that organizes the lesson so there is no time wasted. As I get to know the student more, I develop a lesson plan specific to the student and work on the things that need work but as well as to keep the student motivated by performing and memorizing. I work with the student to learn what they are interested in learning. All my students learn to read traditional notation as well as tablature. I like method books like Hal Leonard , especially for the complete beginner - but I supplement with other repertoire I have found throughout the years. I encourage beginning with a nylon string guitar because it is easier on the fingers! I incorporate music theory in all of my teaching. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, when I student taught at various middle and high schools as well as taught private voice lessons at a music and dance academy. After my first job I joined the national tour of A Christmas Carol, where I was a performer as well as the vocal coach. Read More

I'm a caring and compassionate teacher that tailors my lessons to accommodate each student's level of interest and ability. I set realistic goals for my students so they may achieve regular success in their studies. Learning to play a musical instrument is hard work and yet, it should also be fun. Finding the perfect balance between the two seeming opposites is how I keep my students motivated and working towards getting better. Read More

Teaching for me works best on an individual level. Students work on different levels and languages concerning music, and you have to be able to adapt to them. Some people might understand everything from the get go, some students need graphic support, some student need to learn song to understand what they are doing. The important part of being an instructor is not the actual material to be taught but being able to clear the way for the student to learn and teach himself, as well as providing a direction towards understanding the instrument and music through the taste and necessities of each student. Every new student comes to their first lesson with particular skills and musical interests. My job is to assess the students abilities and lead them down the appropriate paths to achieving their musical goals. My goal is to cultivate musicianship. Students are encouraged to develop technical skills as a means of creative and emotional expression. Sight reading and improvisation are taught simultaneously with music theory and composition. Through individualized lessons and ensemble experience, students are encouraged to reproduce and create music as early as possible. Read More
