I then picked up Bass guitar and performed alongside the Pep band and the Jazz band and continued my practice with both all the way through college. I belive music is the universal language. It doesnt matter what type of music you play, the theory is all the same. When you learn a song, the theory should be learned as well. I like to give scales and a practical theory lesson each week, then transcribe a song for the student to learn that relates to the weeks lesson. Then at the end of each week's lesson, we will practice impovisation with the scales, theory and song learned from the week before. Read More

I have my students provide me with a list of artist or bands that they enjoy listening to as well as songs from those artists that they are interested in learning.
