As stated previously, my end goal is to become a certified band director and am looking to get more experience with teaching. While in high school I helped fellow musicians in a sort of section leader role, as well as the "TA" for our stage crew class. In college I was in leadership in both the University Band Program and in my band fraternity, instructing both sides in how to preform music and how to become a great character at the same time! Music is a general subject that everyone loves. The idea of being able to pass that on to others makes it even more worthwhile. The usage of positive reinforcement in my lessons allows students to learn more effectively and efficiently. Setting up micro goals that build up to larger ones has been successful in my classroom. Students I've taught have really enjoyed that because they can see their progress. I feel a sense of accomplishment with each little step towards a final goal. Read More

I will make sure that the students have songs and music books that they will enjoy learning and performing. I will leave it up to the students if they wish to do a recital. Read More

My experience teaching has varied from beginners to intermediate to advanced on a part-time level over the past 20 years or so. A good portion of my teaching experience includes live performance, music direction, and music business management. I offer my experiences in these fields along with my music instruction experience. I have experienced music in large variety of groups, from funk bands, to jazz bands, choirs, saxophone quartets, drum circles, as well as recording and mixing my own album. Music is about connections: there's nothing that the experience of music doesn't affect! When you take lessons from me, you know you are getting a great foundation of music for life, from reading music, theory, and correct technique, as well as something as broad as composition, improvisation, music technology, even dance!
