My teaching experience with guitar goes back to about age 14, when I was understanding and advancing faster than others around me or someone would ask me for advice or help. I never had the chance nor opportunity to advance my studies to get a degree. Thoughout all these years it has been shown that some gifts are certainly not to be taken advantage of. Read More

I provide all music work sheets that we learn from that involve chords, scales, tabliture, notes...etc. Music is based upon the students current skill set, and what their interests are pertaining to music. The overall goal is to further develop musical talent at an appropriate pace in a comfortable teaching environment, that allows the student ask questions, try new things, and explore their insturment in ways they may not have imagined before. I like to teach students a few easy chords to get them started. Hundreds of songs can be play with only 3 chords. I also like to teach students some 2-note chords also called power chords. I emphasize the importance of proper posture, technique, the ability to read music, and knowledge of the fretboard. Accordingly, I always assign students exercises meant to develop and strengthen a variety of aspects of both left-hand and right-hand technique. The pace at which we move through the exercises is dependent on the student's own level of motivation and how much practice they do. I encourage students to practice daily for at least 30 minutes, but recommend more if they wish to see more dramatic results. Read More

I am a singer/songwriter who enjoys the process of creating a song from start to finish. I also am a studio singer and love the experience of being in the studio recording my own original music. I graduated in 2009 with a contemporary music degree that provided a well-rounded musical education. My favorite part of my educational experience was the time I spent at the Contemporary Music Center at Martha's Vineyard for a special off-campus artist program. Read More

My main music philosophy is to teach sound before sight: teach students to hear the music, and then read the notation. For beginners, I want them to become well acquainted with their instrument so I begin with the basic fundamentals, and then teach some traditional tunes before moving on to reading music. For students who can already read music, I like to work on sight-reading as well as finding solo repertoire that can be performed at recitals. Read More
