Lessons are catered to each students interests, goals, and musical tastes. Whatever style of music you choose to learn can be arranged in a manner that is approachable to any experience level and will in turn emphasize specific techniques and concepts needed to develop as a musician. Song choice is an integral part of the curriculum being the catalyst for the direction of each students lesson. The biggest goal of my lessons is to get my students playing first and foremost. I just recently moved back to Colorado from NYC. Up until the day before I moved, I was working as a private music teacher for over 50 different students weekly, in-studio and in-home lessons, ages varying from as young as 2 to adult. Since I've returned, many of those students have continued with me as their teacher via Zoom/Facetime. The pandemic challenged my regular in-home lesson routine, so all of my instruction takes place over FaceTime/Zoom now. Read More

I have fun with my students. They learn to play songs that they want to play, and I provide theoretical and technical instruction within that framework. Learning to play an instrument is a lifelong endeavor which provides both challenge and satisfaction. I'm an active listener and seek to understand each student's needs and goals. Education is a two-way street, and I learn from my students as they learn from me. Read More

I'm a firm believer in reading music, no matter what style of guitar you want to play. As someone who didn't grow up with music, the thought of reading music seemed like a huge hurdle. However, I discovered that it was easier than I thought and being able to read music helped me to understand larger concepts down the road. I also know that most students start playing the guitar because they want to learn their favorite songs, and I make sure to never ignore what my students want to play. Read More

It is important to me that each student learns at their own pace when I teach. I dont want to force things upon students that they arent ready for, or dont want to do. Because of this, most of my curriculum is based around music of the students choosing, so they keep engaged and wanting to keep learning. Through this, I will teach the theory aspect of the music they are learning to help give a better understanding of why things work the way that they do, and the why the way they sound that way. My methods used all depend on the student. I like to assess the students intentions with the instrument as well as their skill level before creating a unique lesson plan to help them progress efficiently while still enjoying the same eagerness to learn as they did in their first lesson. There is a slightly different method for each person, especially when you have to consider things like if they are playing fingerstyle, or with a pick. Read More
