Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I love all types of music, but especially jazz. I attended Sacramento City college from 2003-2006 majoring in recording studio engineering but with a minor in jazz performance. I moved to NY in 2006 where i regularly played jazz and rock gigs with up and coming young musicians. I had the opportunity of playing on a jazz album, as well as playing for some studio sessions. I love learning all types of music and just having fun playing. Read More

I am a very motivated instructor who loves giving musical instruction to anyone that is excited about music. I love teaching and talking about all different genres of music and learning about other people's influences and musical experiences. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2012 and have been teaching guitar lessons in the East Bay area since moving back. I've been fortunate enough to study with some world class musicians and to perform with professional bands since I was 16 years old. Read More

I prefer to let the student's personality and general skill level dictate the pace and style in which I teach. The greatest detriment to a student's progress is a lack of interest, so I try to give the students as much say as possible when deciding what piece of music they will be learning. Every student develops their skills at their own pace, so my key concern is keeping the students motivated and interested in everything we do during our lessons. Read More

I have a lifelong love of music that has taken many forms. I have had concert hall performances around the country of pieces that ranged from traditional classical, to the experimental and the avante-garde. I have created gallery installations that transformed sound as participants moved about the space, as well as other digital/performative experiments that pushed the leading edge of art. I have performed original pop and rock music, organized public musical events, and throughout it all my passion for music and sound has continued to deepen. Read More

I have been teaching guitar to friends and family for the past 3-4 years, including several of my cousins and my brother. Their skill ranged from beginner to intermediate and I found that each person is different and requires different needs when it comes to guitar. There is many different aspects to teaching that I am familiar with and the most important one I've found most important is listening and patience. Read More

My teaching style flows from my teaching philosophy: Whole-heatedly meet a student where they are, and THEN, respectfully lead them to where you as the educator know that they need to go...Establishing a true RELATIONSHIP with a student, where they know that you have THEIR best interests in mind is absolutely fundamental. As in any relationship, trust and respect are essential, and establishing a firm foundation in those areas should be just as important as the academic and skill development aspects of teaching.
