I am a very motivated instructor who loves giving musical instruction to anyone that is excited about music. I love teaching and talking about all different genres of music and learning about other people's influences and musical experiences. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2012 and have been teaching guitar lessons in the East Bay area since moving back. I've been fortunate enough to study with some world class musicians and to perform with professional bands since I was 16 years old. Whether you want to dig into learning the history of the blues or you want to get starting on learning some jazz standards or even just picking up some Metallica riffs/solos, I can get you started from whichever starting point you choose. From there I always make sure to assess a student's needs and tastes, then try to apply music theory along with nudging the student into new musical territory. I believe that any student is capable of learning any type of music with the right attitude and carefully guided instruction. Also if a student wants to develop his or her ear training on the guitar, I can help unlock the secrets to developing relative or even perfect pitch. Since the ear is perhaps the most important factor to anyone's musicianship, this will be an immense help to any student. Most importantly, my goal is to have fun and to share my love for music with anyone who is willing to learn and listen!
I have played and taught a wide range of styles throughout my life. I graduated from the University of Washington in 2010, majoring in Guitar performance. I have had the opportunity to play in rock bands, jazz ensembles and as a solo performer. I am currently getting my music ed credential at SJSU. I still play frequently in town with my jazz ensemble.
I am a instructor with 10 years of experience giving 15-20 guitar lessons a week who loves sharing the gift of music. I've also performed jazz, rock, pop and other styles of music in groups and solo at many types of venues, including a few jazz festival appearances in addition to jazz clubs and a small number of sponsored concerts under my own name. Along the the way I released a CD that was played on 30 public radio stations and performed with many excellent musicians from the Bay Area, East Coast and Europe.
Hello there! My name is Kevin. I am a 27-year-old musician and graduate music student at Cal State East Bay. I have been teaching for over 5 years both privately and in group setting. I currently hold my bachelors in music from San Francisco State University. I am a multi-instrumentalist. I studied jazz/pop/classical bass and piano while attending San Francisco state. I have also been playing guitar since high school and have years of private lessons. I enjoy teaching and feel I can be a great fit for reverb lessons! thank you. I have been teaching piano, guitar, bass and music production from my house studio in Berkeley for over 5 years now. I currently teach from my graduate studio at Cal State University East Bay. I also have taught for groups for a former organization called Music Camp Rocks in Pleasanton, California. In music camp rocks we taught kids to work together in a band and perform songs. at the end of their session they would perform on stage. Since then I have been teaching professionally from my school office and my home studio for several years. I make learning music fun and enjoyable for all ages!
I'm a passionate and motivated teacher with a background in many styles of music. I recently relocated to the Bay Area and can't wait to help students here pursue their passion and develop their talents. I have performed musical theater, orchestral music, jazz, chamber music, and recorded with rock and hip hop groups. I owe so much of what I've accomplished to the great teachers in my life, especially my private lesson instructors. Teaching is very rewarding for me and I love to share my passion for music.

At Musika, we suggest that adult students looking to start guitar lessons do so with a specific aim or goal in mind. This goal might be to write your own music, or maybe to be able to jam along with some of your favorite songs. The teachers in our network have the experience and ability to help you develop your guitar playing skills and achieve your goals. Developing the co-ordination and technical skills required to play competently and fluently can take time. There is no substitute for regular practice and guitar lessons from an experienced tutor.
Students are able to start taking guitar lessons with Musika at age 6. Students of this age will find it much easier to learn on a half-sized classical guitar with nylon strings, and will start their musical development by learning simple melodies on the top strings. As students advance, they will start to form a range of different chords and learn to play more challenging songs, usually by age 7-8. Often students will progress on to using a full size guitar by the ages of 10-12. During these years, students usually develop a taste for rock music and want to play the electric guitar.
For young beginners, it is suggested that they start their guitar lessons by playing half or three-quarter sized acoustic guitars. Older students may be able to start off using an electric guitar, under the condition that they find it comfortable to hold. A student model guitar can be purchased in the $150 -$200 price range new, however, extra costs will need to be considered for electric guitar players, as amplification and cables will need to be purchased as well. Higher quality instruments tend to be easier to play, which will facilitate students enjoyment and progression in learning to play the guitar.
Beginners will start working on core skills such as fretting notes, strumming chords, and playing simple songs on one or more strings. Once students learn the basic open chords, they can begin to play their favorite songs! Teachers will cover sight reading, and music theory, and can even teach students how to compose their own songs. More advanced topics might include jazz or blues improvisation, guitar soloing, and/or classical guitar repertoire.
Need to save time because of your busy schedule? Why not try in-home guitar lessons? A qualified instructor in our network can travel to you and provide excellent quality instruction in the comfort and convenience of your own home.

Usually I don't write reviews. I am compelled to write for Feng. I've experience finding/working with many music teachers over the years for different instruments (piano, flute, sax) for kids. I think Feng is the best, he is so passionate about music, he encourages the kids. He teaches thoroughly - you can tell he knows lot about saxophone. I would definitely recommend Feng!!

Bill has been great with my 2 young children (age 3 & 6). He has integrated games into the lessons - they have enjoyed showing us how to play the games when it is time to practice piano. Bill has been easy to contact and rescheduling has not been a problem if we have a conflict at our regular lesson time.

My daughter really enjoys her lessons with Pavel. She is an absolute beginner and Pavel is right with her as she learns the basics. She is completely engaged and always looks forward to her lesson. He packs a lot of learning into their 30 minute time slot - he gets right to it as soon as he walks in the door! He is a great teacher - we highly recommend!

We value Chelsea for the quality of her lessons, but also for the flexibility of her schedule. She has worked around family vacations, impromptu summer camps and the upcoming school year. Emily is better prepared to start middle school band this year due to flute lessons from Chelsea and we plan to continue the lessons for the foreseeable future.

Our kids love Mr. Lynwood. Mr. Lynwood is very patient and skillful teaching our kids both music theory and guitar/piano. He keeps them engaged and motivated during their lessons and we are seeing -or rather hearing- fast improvement in the kids' dexterity playing their respective instruments. We would recommend this good natured instructor to anybody.

My daughter began learning sax in her school band, but she didn't begin PLAYING sax until she started lessons with Debra. From scales and exercises to actual pieces, Debra coached my daughter with real insight, sensitivity, and patience. Her knowledge of the instrument and feeling for music - along with her easy-going,"kid friendly" personality - make Debra the ideal teacher and musical mentor.

Noel is amazing. She is helping me to work toward my vocal goals for auditions to several musical theaters. She has helped me choose strong audition pieces and is teaching excellent ways to get the sound I need in a safe and healthy way. She works outside our lessons on new warm ups and new music pieces. She is the best.

Danette is a delightful instructor. She always brings a wealth of knowledge, excitement, and enthusiasm to piano lessons with my daughter. She is not only skilled at piano, but she has a wonderful voice quality that she uses to help convey certain techniques and to highlight various points where she intends to draw the students attention.
