Cello is my main instrument, but I have also been teaching piano, guitar, and violin for years. I love teaching and the variety of finding the approach that works best for each individual student. On a personal note, I was married in 2010 and had my first child, a boy, a year later. I live in Northfield but commute up to the Eden Prairie/Chanhassen area for lessons every Monday. I am also open to giving lessons at people's homes who are close to Highway 35 on the way to or from the Cities. Read More

My teaching style is based on each student's needs. Some students like to learn at a fast pace and others like to go slower. I listen carefully and ask questions, basing instruction on what creates success. My approach is to make learning fun. I bring markers and stickers and other visual aids to create a unique learning process. I like to use games and sayings to help remember things, many of which I've developed over the years. Read More

My teaching style is very focused on the student's desire to learn what they want. Very early into taking on a new student, I try to find what/who inspires them. Doing so allows me to tailor my teaching to each individual student. I also like to have 3 main "small improvement" objectives for each lesson. There's improvement on what we did during our last lesson, improvement during the lesson with something new I will introduce, and improvement for our next lesson with something I will give to the students to work on themselves after our lesson. The methods and approaches I use depend greatly on the student and their needs. The most important thing for me is to find repertoire that addresses the students needs and interests. For classical guitar students, there are a variety of methods that I regularly utilize (Julio Sagreras, The Royal Conservatory Series, Suzuki Guitar Method, Charles Duncan), and often supplement with other pieces/etudes. For other styles, I build lessons around playing music that the student is interested in, and include technical and musical exercises when needed. Read More

My teaching experience can be dated back to high school, where I taught friends and family after school or in the summer. I started to take teaching music lessons seriously within the last couple of years. I love passing this onto my students and giving them the tools to succeed on guitar. I can see from the results of my teaching, that consistency is key. Every time we are having a lesson, I teach the student a new concept and elaborate on their prior knowledge. Read More

Teaching music is one of the most rewarding experiences for both the teacher and the student. I teach students at their own pace, focusing on taking them from where they are to there highest potential. I encourage realistic goals and strategies to reach their goals at every lesson. Having a very specific plan for how to improve is key for reaching your potential,I adapt my teaching to the student and work hard to find the most effective way to reach the student. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice
As an experienced teacher, I know that the more senses you involve in learning, the greater your grasp on that concept will be. So, I guide students through the exercises with hand gestures and some interesting visualizations (After All Voice is the Instrument that is unseen!) Together, I encourage my students develop their own visualizations & methods to help them train their muscle memory to fall in to place with less effort each time until it becomes natural. Read More
