I have fun with my students. They learn to play songs that they want to play, and I provide theoretical and technical instruction within that framework. My lesson style is one-on-one. I like to create an environment where the student can be relaxed, yet focused, in order to get the most out of our lesson time. My approach to teaching is personal, flexible, and student-centered. I will start by finding out what the student knows already, and what the student wants to know. What kinds of music do they want to play, and why? (For instance: for fun; accompanying themselves singing; performing in front of people; becoming professional.) If the student can play some samples of songs they would like to learn, all the better. Along the way, some basics will surely be covered (chords, scales, basic music theory, various instrumental techniques). Read More

I have always enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new people throughout my performance career. I have played in many regions of the US and in China with the string bass and it has given me a incredibly rewarding career. I love to play classical music, jam in all styles, and lead a rock band every now and then. Read More
