I work with all ability levels, but my strength (and joy!) is engaging with beginner and intermediate flutists. I approach teaching from the "whole child" level. I recognize that you are not just a flute student; you are also an individual with a family, friends, school, sports, clubs, and other commitments. While in the AF, though, I've been blessed to have several part-time college teaching jobs. I taught saxophone, sax quartet and clarinet for five years at Adams State University in Colorado. For five of my six years in Illinois, I taught saxophone and sax quartet at McKendree University. I've always maintained a private studio of students ranging in age from 8 to 80+. My methods would slightly vary on what goals the student is trying to achieve. However, all musicians must have a basic grasp of technique and fundamental skills in order to express music the way they would like to. Beginning with an overall assessment of technique is essential, and working to maintain and expand that level of proficiency is important for instrumentalists. After a routine has been established for warm ups and extension, I like to incorporate those skills into songs, pieces, or repertoire. Read More

Recently, I had the honor of playing Reed 3 for the Pre-Broadway debut of Frozen at the Denver Center in 2017, as well as an original production of Oklahoma! in 2018.
