David began playing clarinet in 1972 at age 6. A few years later he added the saxophone, and subsequently, the flute. He has been playing professionally for 30 years, and teaching privately for over 20 years. While attending Temple University, he had the opportunity to study with many of the finest performers and instructors in the Philadelphia region. Due to his interest in both classical music and jazz, his teachers included members of the Philadelphia Orchestra (Larry Wagner - Clarinet, Angelo DiMatteos - Flute) as well as some of the most well respected jazz players on the east coast. I've been playing flute for many many decades. I keep it fresh by continuing to learn more about music. It's an endless well of possibilities. I currently play with a jazz quartet. I've played flute since i was 9 years old and currently favor the alto flute, with its rich, lower tone. I play and teach both C flute (regular flute) and the alto flute. In teaching, i emphasize music basics and also focus on comfort which leads to better tone and more ease. Read More

I always use variety of method books depending on the capability of each student in grasping the instructions. I have a syllabus that I am following base on the Music Teacher's Association syllabus in preparation for a Certificate of Merrit examination. And for those younger students that are not ready yet in taking the Statewide Music examination, a Royal School of Music syllabus is what I am using in order for our studies to be on track. Read More
