I teach because I love to share the knowledge that I have obtained through my personal experiences and apply them to my students. Nothing is better than seeing my students improve on a weekly basis! I am patient, fun, and motivating towards my students. I respect that everyone learns at their own pace. I firmly believe that the experience of teaching privately is a two-way street between the instructor and the student: it is my responsibility to give the student the materials they need to further their musicianship, and with these tools given, the student has a personal responsibility to practice in order to fulfill the weekly-to-overall goal. I'm a passionate and curious musician. I'm self-taught in the styles of classical and jazz from when I picked up the clarinet I found at a Salvation Army at the age of 10. I taught myself until I started college and studied with Kelly Lake, Stephanie Gardner, Jeff Quamo and Cris Inguanti at NAU. While working toward receiving my Masters in Clarinet performance at NAU, I taught music theory and aural perception at the undergraduate level. In addition to teaching I've had two pieces written and recorded for me along with a couple tracks on a comedian's recent albums. I graduated from Temple University in 2011 with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education.  I was a saxophone major, but I have also studied piano since the age of three.  I enjoy performing in musical pits, which is where I picked up the flute and the clarinet.  I am currently a choral teacher at the high school level, but I have previously taught in a K-8 school, as well as several years in a daycare setting with very young students.
