My students have won young artist competitions, concerto and talent competitions (including Miss Connecticut), and scholarships to Eastman School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory and Berklee College of Music in Boston. I have the honor of being known as one of the best flute teachers in the country (James walker, Principal flutist, Los Angeles Philharmonic; Julius Baker, Principal flutist, New York Philharmonic; and Dr. Philip Swanson, Dean, College of Music, Northern Arizona State University). For beginning students I start with the Essential elements similar to what they learn in a middle school classroom. I have a student use a sprial or paper and pencil to keep track of their progress week to week as well as a mental reminder to refer to when they practice. I always recommend having a pencil and highlighter color of choice during lessons to be able to mark or make notes on music and highlighter as a memory jogger as needed. Read More

I am a passionate and dedicated musician with a broad range of experiences both in education and performance. As a solo artist, I have toured the United States extensively, and have performed at festivals in the Caribbean and Denmark. Having performed and taught music in so many styles, I feel I can bring a lot of perspective to each lesson. I earned my Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas in 2015, and have really settled in to the Central Texas community. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for the fine arts! Therefore, it’s important that each student progresses at his or her own pace, I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student’s desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. A method I use to encourage my student’s progress is to give them stars for when they work on their assignment; the stars they earn will allow the student to choose a song of their choice that is not from the same genre being studied—this may be a pop song. I believe that it is important to assess the needs and goals of each student as a creative individual. My goal as an educator is to develop a unique style and approach molded by each student in order to the gain the most success. Lessons are not one-size-fits-all and this is reflected in my teaching style. For education to be truly effective it must be engaging and challenging and I motivate every student to take responsibility for their own learning. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
