While Joey loves to preform, he is passionate about teaching. He has been teaching since 2011. His teaching career began through the non-profit Bravo Waukegan in their Bravo Buddies Summer Camp. I like to encourage solo performance for friends and family early on to achieve performance experience and mitigate nervousness. I am an adjunct flute instructor at NYU, and through this position I have taught many students at all different skill levels with different goals. I am a flexible teacher, and am able to cater my teaching style to the students' goals, level, and learning style. I of course want all my students to have a strong foundations of fundamental flute playing, which starts with strong technique and sound. It is important to adopt a teaching style that is tailored to the individual needs of each student, especially because each student learns at their own pace. Setting goals is one of the first topics I discuss with my students, and then indicate some of the steps they need to take to achieve the goals that they set for themselves.
