I am a Rochester Musician and Educator who loves sharing the joy of music with students of all ages. I grew up learning music in the Rochester area and received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2015. I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. Currently, I am the Music Director for Journey Church, and a musician for the International Musicians League. Teaching, for me, began when I was in high school; I taught summer drumset lessons at McQuaid Jesuit and taught Karate at Martial Arts America. This desire to teach was incorporated with my love of music...leading me to pursue a degree in Music Education. I began performing and competing in fourth grade, which continued into my college years. In my third year of undergraduate work, these elements of music led me as well as three of my percussion buddies to performances and clinics (that we taught) at the New York State School Music Association and the New York State Band Director's Association conventions. I use a combination of books for flute students since they are better suitable for flute study. Some of them are for example; Gariboldi execerses and Trevor Wye along with several books with simple flute solos for beginners. For more advanced students there is also i wide variety of Etude books such as Kohler etudes or Anderson studies. I like to follow a format for lessons, giving a certain amount of time to warming up, practicing technical studies and scales, etudes or lessons, solo literature and ensemble (duet, trio, ensemble) literature. I would encourage students to make an agenda for practicing, I believe many student need to learn how to practice, much like study skills, so they can make good use of their time. I teach students how to mark their music, how to break apart difficult sections and how to set goals for each week. Read More
