Overview:

I'm a passionate instructor with a love for music. I enjoy sharing my experience with students and especially like seeing them excel on their instruments. I have performed all over the US as well as Canada, Mexico, and Italy. Sharing the stage with grammy award winners and have been in opening bands for over 20 top-40 acts. My experience is definitely an asset. I specialize in Blues, Jazz, Rock, and Pop. 

EXPERIENCE

For 23 years, I have taught instrumental music in the public schools in New York State, as well as private lessons. Although I teach all styles of music, at lessons, I focus on music of students choice. I have coached numerous rock bands at the local youth center. My students have performed in school concerts, in the community, and state-wide festivals. I encourage my students to compose their own music and to improvise as well.

METHODS USED

 I use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements method for my beginning students. As my students progress, I introduce solo repertoire suitable for a recital/performance situation. I start with music of the students' choice as soon as I see fit which encourages practice. A good part of my lesson time is spent is playing music with the students. 

LESSON STYLE

I try to motivate students to practice at their own pace. Within a few lessons the student is working on playing some familiar songs. Letting them know that we can start to work on material they prefer is how I get them to work on necessary technique. Many of my students have been accepted into music schools and/or are performing regularly.
