After that I then will begin teaching skills. Often times, when playing an instrument, one skill is made up of multiple skills. The first lesson is focused on my assessment of a students skills, interests, and learning styles. From there I will determine the most useful resources for each student. For beginning piano students, I use the Faber Piano Adventure series. This series is simple, filled with music theory, and keeps the young student motivated. For beginning flute students, I use the Trevor Wye flute instruction books, along with the curriculum that is being taught in the student's band class at school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13.
