For my beginning students who are children, I may start them with Hal Leonards Essential Elements and/or the Rubank Method. Once they begin to learn the basics and and can grasp the fundamentals, I can begin to introduce solo pieces. For adults, I try to learn about what level the student is and what their interests are so that I can cater my lessons accordingly. Again, it is important for children and adults that the learning remain fun so that they want to practice each day! Read More

I am a stronger believer of - "if you can't explain it in a way that even a baby could understand it, you don't understand the topic area well enough". I pride myself on being a teacher that can unequivocally deliver you straight-up, tried tested, failsafe methods to improve fast on your instrument, with the aim of expanding you closer and closer to the type of player that you dream you could be. My greatest accomplishment in teaching over the years has been to help students enjoy the music that they really want to play. This takes a great deal of devotion and research into finding the resources that students need to find the music they love best. I am a firm believer in a positive approach to teaching, concentrating not on mindless rote repetition, but on the artistic method where students can learn to improve and always make the music more and more impressive. I truly enjoy watching my students develop a deep and important love for music. I believe the way to facilitate that is to really get to know your students. Some students benefit from organization while others do better with a more relaxed approach. I take the time to understand what each individual needs and I reflect on what I can do to meet them where they are. My lessons come with structure AND flexibility. Read More

All flutist should become proficient in Taffanel and Gaubert 17 Daily Exercises (once a certain level and ability is obtained, this is a requirement for my studio). There are many etude books for any level, and etudes are also a requirement (etudes act as a continuation of method books, which focus on specific technical aspects in each etude). Specifically for students who show a clear interest in pursuing music professionally (at least though a collegiate level), and definitely for any adult student, I will recommend these books to read as study material to help truly understand the physics of playing the flute, and how that relates to being musical: Michel Debost's The Simple Flute, Thomas Nyfenger's Music and the Flute, and Arthur Weisberg's The Art of Wind Playing. I started teaching jazz, general music and woodwinds at the Rubin Academy of Music in Israel, in 1990. Since then, I have been teaching privately, in private schools and colleges, giving masterclasses and clinics in Germany, Holland, Russia, Canada, Israel, United States. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
