For young beginners I typically with Suzuki Book 1 or the Abracadabra Flute Book.  For children preparing for NYSMA I use the Rubank method with supplements from Forty Little Pieces and gradually move on to more solo repertoire.  For adult students I make repertoire selections based on students' interests while taking care to keep lessons both engaging and fun no matter their starting level.  Although my training is primarily classical, I am happy to incorporate music from other genres into lessons. Finally, student interests are very important to me. If a student has a strong desire to learn a song or study a topic, it would be wrong for me to deny them this opportunity. The only exception would be if a student wanted to learn something that was seriously out of their current level. In that case I would find a simpler version for the student, or I would scaffold other songs or exercises to build the necessary skills that are needed to reach that goal. Read More

I have participated in summer festivals such as the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and the Banff Festival Orchestra. In May of 2014 I graduated with my Master's degree in flute performance from the Yale School of Music. My musical passion is chamber music, and new music. This focus has led me to found a professional woodwind quintet, Sounding Board, and to pursue my second Master's degree in a specialized contemporary performance program at Manhattan School of Music.
