My teaching follows the books quite a bit, so that the student remembers what was taught when they go home and practice. I like for the student to have a notebook that I can write in supplemental information. I understand that each student learns differently and I am able to differentiate my teaching methods to best fit the student needs. I enjoy getting to know each student's personality, strengths and challenges so that we can work together to make a fun and enjoyable time if learning and progressing in music. Read More

I am a lifelong musician who has a passion for teaching. I enjoy helping budding musicians find their voice and inspriation through their gift! I am a full time musician that shares the message of love, positivity, and marriage as I record original music and perform with my wife as RnB duoISH.I have been fortunate enough to tour the country as a musician and I look forward to sharing that love of music with eager minds! My teaching style as I have said is deeply rooted in fundamentals. Knowing and having an array of tone colors, articulations and dynamics will not only make your repertoire easier, but will allow it to flow more naturally, giving you more room for your creative side. Every student is different and will accelerate at their own pace, and I am willing to work with anyone who has a drive and passion for music! Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with fundamentals in tone (Trevor Wye) and Moyse daily studies (I still use it myself!) . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I tend to use the Rubank Method Books and Essential Element books for the essential warm-up, practice and to gain valuable techniques that are often overlooked with classroom teachers. For both students and adults I feel it is necessary to have fun while progressing forward. Read More

I always ask my students what they want to learn; I then fit the program to their needs. If they want to be a rock lead player, than we learn the scales, theory, techniques needed. If they want to play finger picked folk music, then we focus on those techniques and songs. I always recommend a strong background in theory and reading but I introduce it when the student is ready for it. Nothing is learned in a vacumn. There is always a purpose to anything I teach.
